Have Your Cake And Eat It Too By
Lori Holuta Many chocolate
devotees face dietary challenges. These may take the form of allergies,
diabetes, weight control, lactose intolerance, or other special concerns.
Others may adhere to a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Some just want to be aware of what they are eating and would like to gain
control over their intake of certain foods.
This shouldn't necessarily stop you from enjoying chocolate. The About.com Guide to Allergies has written an
informative article, Are
You Allergic To Chocolate? Be sure to click the link at the bottom
of her article, which will give you additional information about allergies
and chocolate.
Most people are not actually allergic to chocolate.
A recent study shows that only one out of every 500 people who thought
they were allergic to chocolate actually had been diagnosed correctly.
What triggers the rest of the allergic reactions is often the additives
blended into the chocolate, such as corn syrup, gluten, nuts, and lecithin.
Be sure to talk with your own doctor about your allergies. With the right
diagnosis and information, you'll be able to enjoy your sweets without
regrets.
