1/2 cup chopped nuts (choose your favorite type)
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
6 1-oz. squares semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

Butter an 8" square pan (do not use the 1/2 cup butter measured for the recipe). Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the buttered surface.

In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter. Add the sugar, and bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and boil gently for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour carefully and evenly over the nuts in the pan. Sprinkle chopped chocolate on top.

Cover the pan for 2 minutes to allow the heat to soften the chocolate. When soft, spread the chocolate evenly over the candy.

Chill until very firm. Remove from pan, and break or cut into pieces (I recommend breaking, if you try to cut it, it will break anyway).

Yield: Approx. one pound of candy.
