My father passed away when I was 2 years old and, although
I would ask
my mother how she and my father met, I did not get a sufficient
answer. I wanted the juicy details but I think it would have been too
emotional for her to describe them to me. I knew they were meant to be
though since they were born on the same day of the same year, Valentine's
Day!
Couples meeting and knowing they are meant to be was a mystery for me.
I wanted to know how couples met and fell in love, as does every woman.
After my mother passed away in 2005, I started collecting stories from
family, friends, and then contacts that I made in my travels. I felt
that my parents were with me to help as I flew to various parts of the
U.S. and drove for hours in search of juicy stories, looking for people
who would be forthright in their feelings for each other about how they
met. The storytellers are everyday people working in typical jobs, unknown
to the world.
The result is a collection of 91 beautiful love stories with at least
one story from every State in the U.S. and stories from countries such
as Austria, Korea, Thailand, Nigeria, and Australia. There are wedding
pictures of 30 of the couples, too. It is a good gift book for weddings,
Christmas and especially for Valentine's Day.
